There's nothing wrong (or spectacular) about this:
This, however, makes no sense at all:
What are you looking at? Impossible to tell. With a square frame? Maybe.
Shooting in an old academy aspect-ratio wouldn't fix the movie, but it might fix the mountain scenes.
